To better serve our members and strengthen the collaboration between startup communities, Seattle Entrepreneurship Club filed for non-profit organization in this month. Thanks to attorney Joe Wallin at DWT for preparing the legal documents for us.
On June 16, we had our first board meeting. The current board members are: Ben C., Song L., Wei L., SQL (President), Robert M.
(Chairman), Wenzhao T., and Ling Z. More people will be brought into the board as they take time and effort to serve the startup community.
This month we had first speaker from political arena Patsy Bonincontri in delivering a speech on startup opportunities around Puget Sound area.
We also welcomed our first group of angel investors from TEEC (Tsinghua Entrepreneurs & Executive Club). The event was in Chinese. The investors are: Xuechen Jin, Eugene Zhang, Chun Xia, John Yu, Larry Li, Jing Lu, Qiang Wan, John Zhu. Bellevue deputy mayor Conrad Lee spoke at the event and encouraged more investors and startup companies to Bellevue. Our club referred more than 10 projects to the investors. Here is the news reported about this event.
Startups of our members are booming. LOCQL.com, built by one of our co-founders Robert M., appeared on TechCrunch this
month (this is our second startup on TechCrunch, the first one is BuzzLabs.) Then it showed up at USAToday and ABC News.
Business Insider journalist wrote a series of articles about social search and LOCQL is greatly favored.
This is a great start. We have heard several great products in private beta now from our members such as SkyGlue and a cool internet content reader. We are eager to see their public debut. We wish every member’s startup dream come true on the road less traveled!
For the road less traveled ain’t for the faint of heart
For those who choose to play it safe and never stray too far
Me I want to live my life and one day leave my mark
And it all might come together
And it all come unraveled
On the road less traveled
